SHANE & WES OLYMPIC PROJECTJoin our members only campfire tonight as I speak with Shane Corson of the Olympic Project & Wes of Squatchermetrics to speak about perhaps the greatest evidence find of our time: the nesting sites in the Olympic peninsula. As I progress in my journey to discover Sasquatch origins, I have found this evidence to be crucial to my research. Not only has the Olympic project seen patterns between multiple nesting sites, but they have also gathered hair samples from an unknown primate species. The question now is whether this is a non-human primate, or something closer to our own species. Tonight, Shane & Wes break down the evidence in order to piece together a guide for searching for nests in other parts of the country!

Hi everyone, my name is Emily and I am the owner of The Forest Fleur. Through this membership program, I want to offer you exclusive and lively content such as podcast episodes, research articles, and field work updates. I want you to become part of our team by participating in Q&A’s, sharing theories, and providing feedback on my research. Before we get into the good stuff this month, I wanted my first post here to help you get to know me on a personal level, so you can better understand my passion for this subject and my future goals for Bigfoot research.
History:
Growing up, I always had a fascination with Bigfoot. Oftentimes, my mother would turn on the history channel and have History Channel’s MonsterQuest playing while she folded laundry. As I started middle school, I began to develop a passion for sewing and embroidery, which was usually accompanied by a good movie. As I was skimming through my parent’s bookshelf full of DVDs, something caught my eye. It was a drive-in-movie-themed DVD pack with dozens of old films related to all things unusual. Within the box was a peculiar disc: The Legend of Bigfoot by Ivan Marx, released in 1976. I immediately popped it into my disc player and the magic began. For those of you who have not seen the film, I believe it is a must-watch for anyone interested in the beginnings of Bigfoot research. Although Marx was considered a bit eccentric and controversial, this film is nicely put together and encompasses that spooky excitement that filled the hearts of those growing up in the 70’s during the Bigfoot media boom. I will warn you, it is cheesy, however it is a great rainy-day film to transport you back to the passion and excitement that came along with surfacing Bigfoot reports in the PNW. After my first time seeing this film, it quickly became a household favorite, until Animal Planet’s Finding Bigfoot aired for the first time. Every Sunday, my family and I would grab snacks and sit down together for each episode, commenting along the way and sharing theories with one another. When that next summer came along, we decided to take a trip to Whitehall, NY, the Bigfoot capitol of the East, some say. After a long drive, we found ourselves pulling up to a decrepit town, seemingly desolate. We compared it to a twilight zone episode, as there was no soul in sight, or so we thought. As we crept down the empty road, passing boarded up storefronts, we approached the famous town statue, and knew immediately that we had come to the right place. After taking pictures with the 7ft tall wooden Bigfoot, we decided to walk around the park to see if we could find someone to talk to about local sightings of this creature. We were in luck. A few cars began pulling up to the park and spitting out women in purple hats like a clown car. They were slowly navigating to the covered picnic area and setting up for their meeting. We wandered over and introduced ourselves. They were absolutely lovely and once they heard we were in the area conducting “Bigfoot research,” they directed us over to the Skenesborough museum just a short walk away.
Inspiration:
As we entered the museum, we were immediately welcomed by cobwebs and a plethora of local history. We waited at the display counter for someone to arrive and eventually, a sweet older gentleman made his way out from the backroom. He gave us the full tour of the museum, highlighting the history of Whitehall. This area was the birthplace of the U.S. Navy, so there is no shortage of pride in this small town. After we explored the building, it was time to talk Bigfoot. I explained to the gentleman that I was curious about local sightings and history of encounters. He pulled out a map and began running his shaky fingers across the terrain, highlighting the possible migration pattern of the creatures. The experience was surreal. As I was peering down at the map he laid out on the display case, I couldn’t help but notice several wooden carved bigfoot statues residing below. I knew I had to have one. “Ten dollars please,” he said. What a steal; if only I knew that this small purchase would eventually go on to inspire the Forest Fleur product line. After driving down Abair Road (where a famous sighting involving law enforcement took place,) we headed home empty handed, with no hard evidence. I knew that I wanted to return someday when I was older, to explore these woods and discover for myself, what lurks within them.
Beginnings:
Years went by, and I dabbled in Bigfoot throughout high school, officially reintroducing it into my life in college. With a minor in English, I knew I would have plenty to write about if I chose bigfoot as my muse for research papers. I attended the business side of a famous art school, so as you can imagine, most students wrote about fashion or accessories. Lucky for me, my work was well-received. During a business project, I was instructed to create a business model and explain why I believe it would be successful. The first thing that came to mind was Bigfoot. I went home and picked up the little statue I purchased in Whitehall, thinking hard about what I felt the Bigfoot community needed. The Bigfoot field is full of wonderful and incredibly eager people, dedicating their time and energy to the discovery of this creature. However, they often struggle to find the tools and products to do so. I dreamed of creating an organization where Bigfoot research and products meet. My professor was so keen to the idea, that he suggested I expand this concept beyond the classroom. Thus, The Forest Fleur was born. I want my organization to be a place where people can go to open their minds, discover the evidence surrounding this creature, and be able to take home a souvenir that doesn’t just sit on a shelf; a souvenir that inspires you every day, to keep searching.
Growth:
The Forest Fleur has expanded rapidly throughout the past year. I have traveled across NY this past summer, gathering evidence, taking note of hot spots, and talking to locals about this mystery. I have implemented a team of researchers from across the country to aid me in my search and expand my territory. The first team member I recruited was Connor Anderson, manager of the North American Bigfoot center in Oregon. I met Connor approximately 2 years ago when he reached out to me about being on the podcast. Since that first episode, we have collaborated on several podcasts as well as research. Connor and I met up in Oregon while we were both visiting to attend the Oregon Bigfoot Festival. We were some of the first people to tour the museum before its expansion, and we shared some good conversation while exploring the small exhibit that existed at the time. It is now a full-blown museum, and Connor has relocated to Oregon to help Cliff manage it. The second team member I recruited was Levi Machovec, author of A Quest for the Truth: A Historians Argument for the Existence of Sasquatch. Levi was one of my very first podcast guests, and I was very impressed by his knowledge of the subject and attention to detail when it came to the scientific process. At the time, Levi was just a student. Years later, he reached out to me to let me know he had released a book. I was thrilled to get back in touch with him and immediately recruited him to help lend a historical perspective to this subject, and report in on his Bigfoot research in Wisconsin. The last team member I recruited was Eli Watson, owner of Cryptid Campfire. Eli explores all areas of cryptozoology for his podcast and website; however, Bigfoot is the one that has yielded the most evidence and convinced him of its existence. I met Eli at the Oregon Bigfoot Festival, where he so kindly gifted me a cryptid campfire T-shirt. Years later, he asked me to be on his podcast. After we finished the episode, we talked for 2 hours behind the scenes, sharing theories and brainstorming future research. I am so proud of my team and their dedication to the subject. Connor has found several footprints in Oregon and currently runs the NABC’s Patreon, which is filled with amazing scientific content. Levi is working on his second book focusing on the science and history behind Sasquatch, and Eli is traveling the PNW with Small Town Monsters to film their On the Trail of Bigfoot series.
Future:
My future goals for The Forest Fleur include starting a conservation effort to protect the land these creatures call home. In order to even begin something like this, it is crucial to travel to areas where Bigfoot is seen, to speak with locals and observe patterns that may suggest migration or permanent territory. Unfortunately, science will likely require a body to be able to recognize this species, however a specimen requirement does not mean a Bigfoot has to be killed. Every species of Australopithecus, Paranthropus, Gigantopithecus, and great apes have been discovered through fossils. If we can find bones, we can recognize the species, declare it endangered, and begin conservation efforts to protect the beautiful wilderness they roam. My goal is to travel the country, in search of remains, and bring attention to a subject that so desperately deserves it. Your monthly donation to my organization will help cover travel costs, research tools, and field work gear. In return, I will take you along on my journey. I will update you on everything I find, I will answer your questions about Bigfoot, and I will gather as much evidence as possible. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting this cause and believing in me! I will be updating you on scientific/historical research, field work, and evidence gathered by my team members. I look forward to this journey and I encourage you to comment with any questions or suggestions below!
